Dukhan Bank brings Google PayTM to customers

In furtherance of its digitization strategy to enable customers to conduct transactions on the go, Dukhan Bank is launching Google PayTM, a faster, more secure way to pay on sites, in applications and in stores using the payment methods saved in their Google Account.

Google Pay, a new addition to Dukhan Bank’s contactless payment platform (D-Pay), protects customers’ payment information with multiple layers of security. When customers make contactless payment through their phone, Google Pay will not send their actual credit or debit card numbers with your payment. Instead, an encrypted virtual account number will be used to represent their information, making their real card details stay safe.

Dukhan Bank customers can make payment through Google Pay at more than million online, on-site and in-store outlets around the world. It is available on Android, and desktop, and can be used on multiple browsers, including Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

“The Google Wallet provides a fast, easy and safe way to pay with any Android phone or Wear OS device,” said Jenny Cheng, Vice President and General Manager, Google Wallet. “Tap and ride the train, tap to pay in stores, have easy access to your boarding pass, store your loyalty cards and more. Keep everything protected in one place, no matter where you go.”

Mr. Talal Ahmed Al-Khaja, Dukhan Bank’s Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, said:

“As part of our ongoing partnership with Mastercard and Visa, Dukhan Bank is delighted to offer customers Google Pay, a secure and reliable payment option. As we continuously offer advanced banking technology to ease our customers’ transaction process, adding Google Pay to Dukhan Bank’s range of advanced payment solutions will create more convenience for our valued clients.”

Dr Sudheer Nair, Visa’s Country Manager for Qatar, said:

“We are honored to collaborate with Dukhan Bank to bring customers seamless and secure payments with Google Pay. Visa is always committed to working with industry partners to ensure that card holders conduct their transactions with peace of mind wherever they are. We believe that the introduction of Google Pay will bring more added value to Dukhan Bank’s customers’ experience.”

Erdem Çakar, Country Manager, Qatar and Kuwait, Mastercard, said:

“By forging strategic partnerships with market leaders, Mastercard is helping to provide the choice and flexibility that customers expect, offering a wide range of payment solutions that are seamless, simple and secure. We are delighted to build on our longstanding collaboration with Dukhan Bank to usher in a new era of digital payments for Qatar with the introduction of Google Pay.”

Google Pay saves customers from handing their payment cards to anyone at the point of payment, touching physical buttons or exchanging cash, enjoying full security and information protect at every transaction.

Linking Dukhan Bank card to Google Pay is easy and takes just a few moments. To set up Google Pay, customers should first download the Google Wallet app from Google Play. Google Wallet is a digital wallet, also launching today in Qatar, that stores cards for Google Pay, as well as loyalty cards, boarding passes, and more. Then, follow the instructions in the app. They can also set up Google Pay on the web at pay.google.com. Once the card has been added, users will not need to enter their payment information again. They only need to choose Google Pay at checkout, confirm purchase and pay.
